Review Duplicate Groups and Delete Selected Items

Duplicate groups are suggestions. Always review before deleting, especially when images are similar but not identical.

First enable duplicate hashes in Settings → Add Files, fill in old images through refresh or repair, and run Duplicates from the workspace. Groups appear after a search completes.

The app suggests keeping the highest-resolution image and preselects the others as removal candidates. Check those selections yourself; resolution alone does not establish which version a project needs.

Steps

1. Open duplicate detection results.
2. Select a duplicate group.
3. Compare image size, clarity, filename, path, and visual details.
4. Select the unwanted items.
5. Use Keep Suggested Only if the suggestion is appropriate, then Delete Group or Delete Selected and choose the intended action in the removal dialog.
6. Confirm the action.

How to Decide What to Keep

Prefer keeping files that are:

• larger or clearer;
• closer to the original;
• correctly named;
• located in the expected source folder;
• without watermarks, compression artifacts, or edits if you need originals.

Removal Actions

• Remove from app: clears records but keeps files.
• Delete from device: requests moving source files to the recycle bin; verify the result and keep a separate backup of important originals.

Removing from a collection is a separate action in collection views, not an option in this duplicate-group removal dialog.

Common Cases

• If two images are similar but both useful, keep both.
• If you are unsure, cancel removal and leave the candidates unchanged while you review the originals.
• After deletion, refresh or check the group again.
• A group disappears from the duplicate results when fewer than two images remain.
