Batch Remove or Delete Material

Batch removal is useful when cleaning a library, but the options have different consequences. Confirm the action before proceeding.

Handle a Single File from the List

Right-click a thumbnail and choose Delete File. In the Remove Images dialog, check the target and choose whether to remove its app records or delete its source file.

Batch Handle Selected Results

1. Select multiple files or images.
2. Open the batch action menu.
3. Choose remove, delete, or another supported action.
4. Read the confirmation dialog carefully.
5. Confirm only when the selected range is correct.

Use View Details in the removal dialog to review paths and images before proceeding. Selected search results and duplicate groups use this dialog; check its count rather than assuming it covers the entire library.

Three Actions to Distinguish

• Remove from app: deletes database records, previews and related search data but keeps source files.
• Delete from device: moves source files to the system recycle bin and updates the database.
• Remove from collection: appears in collection contexts and removes items from that collection only; it keeps library records and source files.

Common Cases

• Use remove from app when a folder should no longer be indexed.
• Use delete only when you are sure the source file is unwanted.
• If you deleted by mistake, check the system recycle bin as soon as possible.
• Restoring source files from the recycle bin does not restore their library records; add them again if needed.
• If the count is wrong, cancel and select again. If deletion fails, check whether another app has the files open or whether you have permission to change them.
