Re-parse a Single File

When a file was replaced, renamed, moved, displayed incorrectly, or parsed abnormally, re-parse only that item instead of refreshing the whole database.

Single-file refresh is useful when only one item needs updating.

Steps

  1. Find the file in the file list.
  2. Right-click it or open the related action menu.
  3. Choose the re-parse or refresh-file action.
  4. Wait for the task to finish.

When to Use It

Use this action when:

  • a file was replaced but still shows old information;
  • the thumbnail or metadata looks wrong;
  • a PDF, spreadsheet, or video needs to be parsed again;
  • you fixed the source file and want the app to update only this item.

Difference from Database Refresh

Database refresh scans folders and checks many files. Single-file re-parse targets one file, so it is faster and less disruptive.

Common Cases

  • If re-parsing still fails, check whether the file can be opened normally outside the app.
  • For repeated parsing failures, package logs and contact support.
  • If many files changed, use database refresh instead.
